The press is of fabricated steel design. The crown, bed and slide are welded steel plate of box type construction. The four heavy steel tie rods pass through the frame structures and are pre-stressed with a hydraulic device to hold the structure in place. The pre-stressed tie rod construction insures proper die alignment during high tonnage stamping.
The bed of the Maxi-Stamper is reinforced with massive cross ribs for maximum rigidity. The ridged construction and thick bolster ensure a maximum of .0015" deflection per foot of width at full load on a tool covering 66% of the bed area, equally spaced on the left to right and front to back press center line and a maximum deflection of .0015" per foot of length on the front to back center line.
Wide non-metallic (phenolic) way liners are bolted to the slide for easy adjustment. The eight point square type gib arrangement allows for adjustment of the slide in front to back and right to left directions. Extra long gibs retain the slide fully in any position of stroke and adjustment.
